Why games?

Interactivity is the key to effective engagement, make your audience a part of the experience they enjoy and you can maintain their undivided attention for extended periods of time.

Games can capture your audience's imagination in ways far beyond traditional, passive marketing. They're an effective, entertaining way to inform, educate and inspire.

Your audience

In a world of casual, mobile and social gaming, not to mention gamification, viral and trans-media initiatives, over 67% of internet users in the UK already play games regularly.

With the average age of gamers now around 35 years old and engagement levels split almost equally between men and women, gaming is more inclusive than ever. Whatever your message, your audience is playing games.

Meet the team...

Tom Page

One of the founders of PLA Studios, Tom is a former digital marketing and communication consultant with a background in managing a wide variety of projects for large corporate and public sector organizations.

Tom moved to the games industry as an engagement specialist, helping brands such as Audi and Paramount leverage the power of games. In partnership with Robin, Tom founded PLA Studios to provide clients with the high-quality interactive assets needed in the ever-evolving media landscape.

Robin Lacey

Creative Director and Co-founder of PLA Studios, Robin has been a familiar fixture in the Games development scene for some time. After co-founding independent London development studio Beatnik Games, Robin earned some notoriety producing highly acclaimed PC game "Plain Sight" and Channel 4's soon to be released educational title "Ada".

Robin has spoken at a number of industry events over the years, staying at the forefront of independent game development, and now leads PLA's production team in design and development across all platforms.

Iain Gillespie

Iain is a 2D and 3D artist and animator with a wealth of brand experience under his belt. Approaching animation through a love and study of game design, Iain rapidly found his skills in high demand from creative, advertising and film production quarters.

Having plied his trade for an impressive list of big names including Nike, Virgin Media and Film 4, Iain brings a tried and trusted level of visual quality to our games.

George Buckenham

George is a qualified cognitive scientist and staunch advocate of original and innovative game mechanics.

Organiser of "London Indies" and the Hackspace Gamejam, George's experimental game projects have earned him quite a reputation.

Amongst George's creations you will find the asynchronous multiplayer game "Hell is Other People" - in which one plays against the ghosts of previous players, and the endlessly entertaining "Terrible Bear"- an ursine AI Twitter user who's mood, tweets and responses changed according to it's interactions with other users.

Russ Morris

Russ comes to PLA from Southbank University, London where he educated budding young games designers in the finer points of Unity 3D development. Somewhat of an authority on 3 dimensional environments and mechanics as well as gameplay theory, Russ is regularly called upon by both educational and commercial organizations (including Nissan for whom he developed a game to support the launch of their Leaf eco-car) and organizes regular seminars for those keen to learn more about their development tools.

Russ specializes in creating games in expansive 3D environments and has become adept at creating huge virtual countryside and cityscapes in which to host his gameplay mechanics.
